[ What with Bones swanning around the hospital as part of the busy senior medical staff, along with Chase, Wilson and House, there's a better than slim chance that he'll be able to get out of this check-up unscathed. So, when patient James T. Kirk slips out of his room two minutes after Bones has told him to stay put, he shrugs on his leather jacket and starts walking purposefully for the exit.

Wherever the hell it is. ]

Whole place is a damn maze ...

[ Muttering under his breath, he does his very best not to look like a patient on the run. As long as no one saw him leave his room, he should be golden. ]

[She’s just adding the finishing touches to an equipment tray right outside when Jim passes her and catches her attention. There’s nothing suspicious about him at first glance, really, but Kes could have sworn she’s heard McCoy mutter something about a stubborn friend of his only minutes ago. The good doctor tends to do that a lot, she noticed.

If memory serves her correctly, said friend is supposedly even part of the extended, trusted Starfleet family she has yet to meet in its entirety, which makes Kes's decision whether to catch up or not a rather easy one. Soon she falls into step with him, her hands comfortably clasped behind her back as she tries not to look too amused for the sake of professionalism.

But she just has to ask.]

Did you get transferred?

[After all, he somehow doesn't look like someone who really means to head straight into Urology.]

[ He pauses mid-step upon noticing, belatedly, that he has a tag-a-long, but she gets a friendly (albeit somewhat far too bright and innocent) smile when she asks that.

Oh. Hi, Urology. ]

Uh, yes! And I have no idea where the exit is, I'm all done for the day. Could you point me, please?

[ocampa]

[He gets an overly sweet smile in return right there. So not buying it, stranger.]

Of course. Follow me, please.

[Kes points to an identical corridor and confidently leads the way - which might or might not make them walk in a circle and get them right back to where they started. Enough time for a little more verbal prodding to satisfy some of her curiosity at least, as if she’s not being obvious enough already with all the unsubtle glancing his way.]

I take it you’re a friend of Doctor McCoy?

[ Pretty lady, he puts his trust in thee, however much he looks like a truant schoolboy. ]

Nope. Never heard of him! Does he work here? [ His new guide is lovely enough to provide a distraction from the mental imagery of Bones howling his vengeance over Jim being gone. ] More importantly, do you? Miss —?

[ocampa]

Oh?

[Goddamnit, Jim. Guess who’s going to hear about this if she doesn’t herd you right back into your Doc’s waiting arms? That’s right. Watch out, pretty lady betrayal is imminent.]

Ah– Kes! Just Kes. [Angelic smile, devious thoughts.] I do, actually. Or try to, if help is needed. Ca–[Hold on.] Kathryn suggested I get a little hands on experience with the equipment in this period.

Nice to meet you, Kes. [ If he didn't know any better, that cut off stumble over Kathryn's name could have been innocent. He smiles as he follows Kes down the corridors, neglecting to offer his own name. ] Which area is it that you usually specialize in?
