Wesley Crusher ∞ star trek tng

[personal profile] deus_ex_cadet 2013-08-23 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wesley is trying his best to quietly blend in to the environment and not be too obvious about how removed from the time period he is. He's lying low, researching, studying - today he's at the library, experimenting with how his thoughts affect what he finds.

You can find him wandering the stacks, browsing the shelves, having returned to a table with one of the books he found more interesting, or in the areas of the City surrounding the library.]

[ The library was a fantastic place, and Helena had spent a good few hours there. The young man had caught her attention after a while, and his behaviour was noticeable to her, more so because she knew what to look for - she'd seen it before.

He was out of place. Out of time. She knew it because she had to try and hide herself, learn things exactly the same. Waking up in the twenty-first century after being bronzed in 1900 was certainly a little out of place. Catching up was fun.

She'd watched him for a little longer before approaching, curious as to the books that he was checking out ]

Would you recommend it?

[ At present, he's got a volume on quantum theory in hand. He glances up and offers a sheepish smile. ]

It's interesting - some of the ideas are flawed, but the author has some decent insights to offer, and a good way of phrasing things.

[ It's outdated by his standards, but he doesn't share that much. ]

[ Jim's made it a rule for none of his people to head into the library, largely because it's where Khan tends to hang out and it's just not worth the bother of engaging the bastard in conversation, accidentally or otherwise. The fact is, however, that he has to go in to pick up Scott and Stiles' textbooks himself, so he does it as quickly as possible and ends up bumping into a young man on the way out with a near-dramatic ruffling flair as pages burst open in the wind. ]

Damn it! [ It turns out they both have more tomes than any two men should carry. Jim turns over one of the covers where he hastily crouches and hands it back. ] Sorry, kid, didn't look where I was going. You okay?

[ Wesley takes that book back - one of the many on theoretical physics he's currently looking into, outmoded as those theories may be - and offers a smile. ]

Oh, no , it's all right - I'm fine. Thanks.

[ Is there something vaguely familiar about this guy? He can't quite tell. ]

[Look, one simply does not transport Lydia Martin into what is effectively a transdimensional bubble and expect her not to want to refresh herself on the subject.

Which is why she ends up near the shelves where Wesley is loitering, and at one point, the strawberry blonde leans over and whispers to him.]

'Scuse me. Do you know where i can find the section on theoretical physics? Particularly M-World theory?

[ Iiiiinteresting. How can he not greet the girl asking about theoretical physics with a smile? ]

The library seems to not quite function the way we'd expect - it has some kind of reaction to what we're thinking, and focusing on. Has to be something monitoring our neural patterns.

[ Luckily - ]

But, I did find it before. I focused on it for a few moments, then... let my thoughts wander, naturally, until they latched onto something else, focused on that, and... physics.

[ He smirks. ]

It took a little trial and error.

[Aren't you the most adorable thing, Ensign Crusher.]

Mmm. That means I'm going to wind up with a shelf full of A Brief History of Time, an my favorite astrophysics primer, and Fifty Shades of Grey.

[She offers her hand, and a smile to go with it.]

Lydia.
