Actually there's a reason. Let's call it...

THE CAKEPIE MEME
There are no picakens in Poly - here they're ALL CAKEPIE!

1. Post your character.
2. Everyone tells you what kind of food they associate with your character.
3. Everyone gets hungry.
4. Profit. [For whichever cafe, snack shop or vending machine is closest to you.]
5. Recipe sharing is optional.

Roasted nuts, actually. You know, the kind you get from the guy with the little cart on the street corner and he puts them in a cone of red-checkered paper and there's this whole little bubble around him that smells like cinnamon-roasted almonds and chestnuts and all sorts of delicious things that come through so strongly in the chill winter air.

That and gingersnaps, but I can't quite pinpoint where that one comes from as well as I can the first.

How adorably Victorian... I can see where hot chestnuts could fit well with Lord Cain "Am I Victorian Enough Yet?" Hargreaves.

Gingersnaps is more of a stretch, but spice and sharpness and poison all kind of follow--?

I think it's because I associate ginger-related delicacies with Christmas, and his birthday is the week before, so he's always kind of on my mind around that time of year.

But the spice works well too; they're not overly sweet and they're not particularly eye-catching compared to a lot of other, flashier cookies, but they're absurdly tasty and go well with coffee. And I can't get enough when you put them in front of me.

I'm just gonna go "this" to all of this (well, except for the coffee--I take tea with mine).

Learning to bake was quite possibly one of the best strategic moves I ever made. If only because now I get cookies whenever I want.
