BUCKLE UP: A TEST DRIVE MEME

Been feeling as if you'd sort of, kind of, maybe like to consider a new character at Poly? Haven't had the chance to figure out whether they work for you in the setting or in general?

Just start a thread for them here with:

character name | series

- in the title, and tag around! Alternatively, just comment to someone else's thread, either doing your own thing, assuming characters just met in the City, or maybe working off one of the following premises:

i. ...it's raining people! The character whom you're tagging missed the memo about perfect Fountain landings and ended up falling on your character instead.

OR

ii. ...ah, a lovely evening at a City shop or bar, when you've just realized you don't have the currency to pay your tab and you have to beg or steal it off someone else!

OR

iii. ...your characters are running up an endlessly high hill from a herd of rabid pandas.

Naturally, the meme is more than open to people who aren't currently at Poly, so pimp this to poor souls you're hoping to enable, it's the perfect time to lure'im in ♥

I tried to get it off on my own and then I tried to get Calcifer to help me and when neither of those worked I sent you to Mrs Pentstemmon to get her to take it off you. Do you honestly think I would let someone so obviously cursed by the Witch into my home and not try to help them? You must really think I am as wicked as all those Aunts do.

I'm glad to see that you are finished accusing me of wickedness and are ready to understand the gravitas of this situation.

Allegedly this place is run by deities, although I've never seen them. They also happen to unleash these 'curses' upon the unsuspecting members of the population every few days.

A whole city of the Witch of Waste.

Luckily, these curses are a little permanent. Twenty-four hours seems to be the standard length of them, and one reverts to the norm afterwards. Or as close to the norm as you start out as.

Hmm. Ah. Well - they can't all find wizards and their castles to help, I suppose.

It seems to be the consensus that it's the chaos created by these curses which the deities need. In which case it's advantageous to them to enable one person to be cursed over and over again.

What a terrible place to be stuck in.

[She's close enough that he can sneak one hand around her waist and grins at her.]
