Howard adores Ariadne! I don't think he really knows what to do with a woman he isn't actually trying to get into bed with, not that he doesn't find her attractive because he does, but she's the kind of woman he could probably be friends with if he acted like a human being long enough. She's sweet and adorable, and she knows how to take care of herself, smart and funny, and he just generally enjoys talking to her. Plus, she's one of few people, especially of the female variety, who take him as he is and just rolls with it, so he loves her a little for that.
