HEY MERLIN HEY

Okay this is excellent because now I don't feel bad about tl;dring about Rosella's CR with the previous Merlin (and people named Merlin) and therefore why she's predisposed to like this one so much.

In Rosella's canon, there is a magic mirror whose power is to show the future and show it true to anyone who looks into it, and its official name is Merlin's Mirror. So even before the City, Merlin was a big deal to Rosella; magic in her world is something that pretty much everyone can do with the right equipment, and so wizards tend to be really respected because they're the guys who both have the right equipment and have studied magic for so long that they have the biggest repertoire of what they can do, hence being the most powerful. It has nothing to do with innate potential and everything to do with how much you apply yourself, and in Rosella's mind, Merlin being the greatest wizard to ever live means he must be really damn smart when it comes to magic and so on. She respects him a ridiculous amount; the mirror I mentioned is one of her family's most priceless treasures. So basically he's a Big Deal.

Anyway, many moons ago in Poly, Rosella was trying to teach herself magic. She canonically has no training with it herself, but like everyone else she has the potential to learn, and she'd gotten some bad news from a curse that her whole family was going to probably die at the hands of an evil wizard, so she took it upon herself to try to find a way to stop that, and magic was her answer. In the process, she bumped into Merlin, and he helped her out a lot with it. So even though she ultimately botched it (it was her first time), she still feels like she owes a lot to Merlin because in her mind, he's partially responsible for her even being able to do magic in the first place.

So now we have This Merlin, who is benefiting from all that existing history in her mind, and for bonus points on top of that, he's hanging around with Edmund, whom Rosella had been really worried about following his whole family leaving (and had been living with for a while, to keep him company), and so she's all Filled With Gratitude again because she implicitly trusts Merlin after her own experiences with him, and Ed needs someone to keep him company, and she thinks the two of them will be good for each other anyway because she remembers Merlin being pretty cheerful and funny and happy-go-lucky, and now throwing Arthur into the mix just kind of makes it even better because then Merlin has his friend (Rosella knew the past Arthur, too) and there's more boys filling up the house and she's pretty confident Ed won't let Arthur be too pigheaded in the long run, so. It'll just kind of all work out! And that makes her really happy.

So yes, Rosella really really likes Merlin, and it's my fault in an OOC sense that she hasn't been around as much lately to really follow up on that, but I really enjoy tagging with him and I hope I can get back into the swing of things ASAP to have a bunch of new adventures with him, too. o/

And wow, I am really flattered to hear that! YES, LET US HAVE ALL THE ADVENTURES. The end of school is coming up fast and soon I will have FREEDOM ONCE AGAIN and basically what I am getting at here is that we should plot things. Because I am all for this. Oh yes.

How is he doing on the "telling Arthur about magic" front? I know I dropped the ball hard on getting over to talk to Arthur about it like I meant to, and I apologize, but maybe there's still something they could do with that?

Oh right that! We're actually logging that out right now, so he told Arthur on the 5th. We haven't gotten to the actual reveal just yet, so idk how it will go, but.

It's okay! There's still time to backdate something/talk something together - or however I should put it - if you and Par would like! Since Arthur has no idea what Merlin is going to talk about and whatnot.

I'm actually in a pretty rough crunch at the moment (I have to give an oral argument in about forty-eight hours--eep!), and I don't want to inadvertently hold you guys up, so it might be better to revise those plans a bit and maybe have Rosella hit up Arthur afterward, instead? Or I'll find another excuse entirely to get her into the middle of all of y'all's business because I VOW I WILL DO THIS SOMEHOW OR ANOTHER.
