The thing is, Kazu's pretty used to bastards! So most of the time he'll go along with Yuri's sort of ribbing without really thinking twice because he sort of reacts to the kind-hearted semi-douchebag routine in comfortable rote. No matter his protests, Kazu does in fact know his role!

And then again he... realises that Yuri's more than that. There's his years of City experience, the fact that, despite it all, he still went out on an expedition to explore the boundaries and find the way out. He was in the Glass City and he paid the price to go to the desert to find his friend. Obviously they don't know each other that well, but Kazu tends to go with strong impressions and gut feelings, and the idea he gets is that Yuri's kind of a douche sometimes, but he's still somebody who knows how to get things done. It's something to be admired. Whiiich is... leading him to trust in Yuri's occasional moments of insight—not as something expected or looked for, but still taken into account. Because there have been moments from the start where Yuri'll say something a little sharper that proves he's paying attention—and then won't follow up on it. No pressure, just calling him on things in ways that get Kazu to think a little. It is pretty much the best way for dealing with Kazu if you aren't a close friend, and he likes Yuri for it!

... he's still kind of an ass, though, and Kazu picks on him to even the ground because he refuses to be that easy a target. :V

....Kazuuuuuuuuuuuu.

(This secretly makes me happy- because that is everything Yuri should be to other people, and I am gleeful!)
