Tag around to other people's threads! Play it like your character has just arrived in the City, as if you've already met, or...

Pick from the list below - or use an RNG if you prefer - to hit a character with one of the City's curses! Is one character cursed? Both? Are they cursed with the same or different curses? That's all up to you!
1. Did It Hurt When You Fell From Heaven? Whether they're suave, awkward, good, or just plain horrible, citizens find themselves unable to stop speaking in the language of pickup lines.

[ Lin looks, in one word: frazzled. Her curls are frizzed, and her expression is one of worried uncertainty. She keeps glancing down at the bundle in her arms, and then back up at him. ]

He just won't quit crying! I knew I wasn't cut out for this.

[ She presents the bundle for his inspection. The baby blanket contains one large rock. ]

He's your son. Do something.

[Laura is very confused, but also very devoted to the pepper grinder that has somehow become her child. And very protective.]

[ oh hey! it's a person I know! And Avatar Korra, at that. Okay, so I haven't completely 100% lost everyone ever. Only like 99.999999%. That's totally preferable. ]

[That's his voice. He's really standing there, and he's talking, and he's not dead. She can't breathe. She can't believe it.

She might be crying. She can't tell because all of her attention is on Tenzin, waiting for the moment something changes, something goes wrong. Because that's what happens here. Something always goes wrong.]

Certainly not. As you can see, perfectly smooth heads run in my side of the family.

[ You cover yours up with hair. Clearly it's hiding something. ]

Not that it matters. He's a stubborn little thing. Definitely an earthbender.

[ She gives the rock an affectionate look. Maybe it has stopped crying. ]

[ 'is something wrong?' 'you're here.' Some part of his brain takes those two phrases as an actual question and answer, okay. Not in a bad way, but oftentimes when there's a double meaning in something someone says, it's not an irrelevant one. So he's always looking out for those.

This is... unfortunately, a good example. Korra seems rather disturbingly attentive towards his face and movements, like he's going to flip out and attack her or something. And crying. This is so unlike her-- it's a little broken. He kind of doesn't want to think about what that could imply.

But that's okay, because he's all zen and shit and can live in the now. That's where you just sort of exist in a calm and peaceful manner and affirm that you are, in fact, physically present. Verbally, if necessary. (Except that in this case we are not meditating. Just having a conversation.) ]

[ And, see, check this out. My words have a double meaning, too, and it's full of ~~jedi~~ airbender hugs. ]

[Well, considering he just spent the last few weeks as a prison to a psychotic version of his childhood, being handcuffed to an adorable little girl is not a hardship.

Still, very confusing. He stares down at her for a moment. And stares some more.]

YOU ARE ADORABLE~! [And then he's bringing her up to squeeze her to him because that is exactly what you should do with a child who doesn't know who you are.]

[He should find something wrong with this... he should. But he doesn't, because it's Laura and it's her ~~pepper grinder~~baby, which by default makes him beam with excitement. Okay, Gambit would probably glare at anyone who calls him 'grand-père', but right now none of that matters as he peers over Laura's shoulder at the ~~grinder~~child.

He's careful- slow even as he sets a hand on her shoulder and gives a little squeeze. She's tense and nervous, he is too, but he's sure that's just because it's a little ~~pepper mill~~baby, and they have to protect it. Like always he does his best to reassure her. He's there, and between them they can keep her precious grinderinfant safe.]

[She wants his approval and it is always strange to know that it is there. That she doesn't have to fight for it. And now she has a baby that depends on her and she doesn't know what to do. She lifts him a little higher, cradling him closer to make him more comfortable and feels as something slides down her arm. She looks and her nose wrinkles, but then she more disturbed by the realization that]

...He needs changing. I do not know how to change a baby.
