Saya and Uhura! And Zel and Uhura!

Saya finds Uhura smart, capable, and kind. She's also determined to stay away from her as much as possible. A lot of Saya's actions right now are driven by fear, and she could not be more afraid of people she likes getting hurt, either by Karl just for being her friend or... by herself. Saya's control is better than she thinks it is, but especially with curses running thick she has no way to know when she'll turn violent and would really rather minimize the damage. So she's taken to mostly hanging out with people who can physically handle it -- the other Chiropterans, Setsuna. But she's very grateful to Uhura for teaching her to speak better. Maybe once she calms down a little and/or gets her memories back they can sit and chat in four languages!

Zel is more than a bit intimidated by Uhura. He finds her lovely and intelligent and smooth which is a nice contrast to his emotional ineptitude, but she's also a mystery to him for the same reasons. Zel is used to freaking crazy women, okay. All the females he knew back home were at least a little off, and the ones aside from Nyota he's bet at Poly aren't much better! So while Zel respects and likes Uhura, he's sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop. He thought it had with the whole poisoned tea thing, but even that somehow turned out okay. She must be some sort of mystical creature! He wouldn't say he's attracted to her, mostly because he just doesn't think that way yet. It's hard to think about people like that when he pretty much considers himself hideous and is convinced no one would ever find him attractive give his looks and stoic/defensive personality, so he's closed himself off to even the idea that it could happen ever. That said he's not that far removed from being a teenager and he'd be blind not to notice she's attractive, but of course she's too far out of his league to even consider. Honestly, he's just happy to have someone he can tolerate around the City, someone reasonable and calm and soothing to chat with in the absence of anything else familiar.

And ;akflkadjsf Zellllllllll. Uhura would scold him for this idea of "out of his league." There is no such thing (unless Jim Kirk is flirting with her, in which case, yes, she is way out of Kirk's league).
