Hei:

Zel: YOU HURT HIS LOLI HE WILL KILL JOOOOOO BV

...Well, no, that's not it. The classic and charming display of avoidance aside, Hei has yet to draw a bead on Zel's character as a whole. His strengths lie in capitalizing on the weaknesses of those around him, so while he has a pretty good feel of what barbs would sting Zel on a psychological level (he's clearly hinky about his appearance, and said appearance likely isn't something he was born with, if the instinctual recoil is anything to go by), Hei is equally interested in learning more about the extent of Zel's abilities. The direct approach doesn't seem favorable, so he'll stick with close observation on the Network for now. It's part blanket curiosity, part concern for Yin. He doubts Zel is truly monstrous -- he seems more the type who ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time. But if Yin happens to be in any of those aforementioned places, he believes in keeping his eyes peeled.

It's an irrational motive to monitor someone. But we both know Hei and his Loli do not a rational combo make ;;

Karl:

Lacus: SO EERILY EVEN-TEMPERED WTF?!?! D: To be perfectly honest, that chilled out demeanor calls Solomon to mind, but Karl's a bit sexist and likely hasn't made the connection right up front. She seems cheerful like Euphie, but she's a lot more thoughtful as far as he can observe. He'll be creeping on her and toying around with her (he enjoys wordplay as well as the more gory cat-and-mouse games.) I'm excited to see where the CR takes them \^^/

Saaaaaaya: Dear Saya. Sweet Saya. You confuse him as much as he does you. If not more. The pheromonal cocktail and the emotion dysregulation does not help :| Canon has largely established that Karl is a character driven by delusions, to the point where reality/consequence no longer have a bearing on his behavior or thought-processes. While he made some progress toward semi-restraint in his months in the City -- between relapses and Very Poor Unlife Choices -- Saya's return largely resulted in one big splash of backsliding. To make matters worse, his relationship with Diva is far better here than it ever was at home -- likely because of Amshel's absence and Solomon's defection. Canon essentially establishes that he turned to Saya out of despair at Diva's rejection and inability to love him. While that's no different in the City, scenarios and curses all conspire to make Karl think, from time to time, that he might have a chance at happiness with Diva. But in the moments where lucidity intrudes, and he realizes he doesn't, Karl reacts by focusing all his neediness on Saya. Which is ... not a very healthy back and forth at all.

In every sense of the word, Karl is torn. He wants to be the loyal Chevalier to Diva -- to prove that he's indispensable to her. But the other half is genuinely smitten with Saya. Not just the image of her he's aggrandized from their clash in Vietnam, but the amnesiac that arrived in the City, and treats him almost like he's a person. That's a first for him, and he legitimately has no idea how to respond. He's drawn to her anyway because of his make-up as a Chiropteran -- City Dead or no. But if we're putting it in terms of dichotomous subcategorization (and we aaaaaalways are :|), he's also drawn to her the way a bashful, badly-behaved boy is -- pulling her pontytails and shoving her in mud puddles to show he's interested, because he literally doesn't know how else to respond to the emotions that she leaves stewing in him. He halfway hopes that once all her memories return, everything will be back to normal. They'll be too focused on killing each other to bother with ~*feeeeels*~ But deep down, he's only recently admitted to himself that he'd regret it. He's almost comfortable with the situation as it is, despite the fact that it's essentially limbo. He's even comfortable with the fact that Saya uses him from time to time, because his self-image is too distorted to protest at treatment that's no different from Diva's. It's what he's made for, after all. And it's less overwhelming than the moments where Saya tries to treat him as an individual with autonomous feelings.

ALL IN ALL -- It's one big clusterfuck and I quiver with anticipation to see where it leads ♥
