BUCKLE UP: A TEST DRIVE MEME

Been feeling as if you'd sort of, kind of, maybe like to consider a new character at Poly? Haven't had the chance to figure out whether they work for you in the setting or in general?

Just start a thread for them here with:

character name | series

- in the title, and tag around! Alternatively, just comment to someone else's thread, either doing your own thing, assuming characters just met in the City, or maybe working off one of the following premises:

i. ...it's raining people! The character whom you're tagging missed the memo about perfect Fountain landings and ended up falling on your character instead.

OR

ii. ...ah, a lovely evening at a City shop or bar, when you've just realized you don't have the currency to pay your tab and you have to beg or steal it off someone else!

OR

iii. ...your characters are running up an endlessly high hill from a herd of rabid pandas.

Naturally, the meme is more than open to people who aren't currently at Poly, so pimp this to poor souls you're hoping to enable, it's the perfect time to lure'im in ♥

[She watches him for a moment before heading over and standing in front of him.] I'm okay with how things are now. He hasn't tried to eat me in ages and we're getting along.

That's great, seriously. [Face. Palm.] It's not like he's a vampire who wants to rip your throat open and drink your blood and... floss with your tendons, or whatever.

I'll set him on fire if he tries. He knows it.

You can do that? ...Nice.

[He kicks a backpack he discarded. It makes a satisfying rattling sound, like, say, stakes rolling around with textbooks might.] Way better than these.

Wow, you're pretty chill about what I just told you. Most people stare at me like I'm insane.

[The rattling gets her attention.] Hmm.

Dude, I set myself on fire. That's more insane than burning up other stuff.

[by way of explanation] Stakes. Turns out there're a whole freaking lot of vampires in Clark County.

Yeah, but did you do it with a thought? Or were there things involved? [Eying the bag of stakes.] So, what? You're a one man vampire slayer, now? Sounds suicidal.

I didn't do it for fun. Ed tell you about Jerry? [He shrugs.] I'm not bad at it, and Peter helps.

I don't do it for fun, either. Always self preservation.

Jerry. [Oh. Lord.] No. But..there's a Jerry here. Haven't seen him but the likely hood of him being your Jerry? Pretty low.

Good deal.

[There's a Jerry here? That's not good.] If you see him and he has this... predator kind of vibe and an apple fetish, you should probably run. Turns out that just setting him on fire won't do it.

Well, fuck. And he's responsible for Ed being a vampire? [Just...just cringing.] Wow, how fucked am I?

Mostly, yeah. I guess I'm responsible, too. [Oh, how you should cringe, McGee.] That depends. Do you know where I can get a flammable bodysuit and a carabiner?

How about a pyrokinetic packing upwards of ten thousand degrees of fire in her head?

Unless you can torch him, hang on to him when he starts freaking out, and then aim the stake right, you're only halfway there.

[Sigh. Fine. Big confession time.] Ed's my boyfriend and I know for a fact he actually dislikes being a vampire. If I have the opportunity to change it, I'm fucking going for it. If Jerry's gone, maybe Ed'll be happier?
